5 years: Looking Forward

This week marks  5 years since I arrived back in Australia (after a jaunt in Christchurch) and Jordesign became a full time venture. It’s been a crazy 5 years – so I thought I would spend some time taking a look back at what has happened, and what I am looking forward to in the future…

Looking Forward

The start of 2014 has feeling like I am sitting on the verge of exciting new things. It is interesting to see how the path of the past 5 years for Jordesign has landed me where I am – preparing me for what is coming next. So what’s happening?

ChurchSites

I’m really proud to be launching ChurchSites in the coming weeks. For 5 years I have been lucky to work with a lot of churches and ministry organisations, helping them to communicate both their story, and the greatest story ever told. In that time I’ve come to realise that for many churches – the full cost of a custom designed and developed site is out of reach. Yet the cheap/free alternatives often require considerable expertise, or result in an inferior website.

That’s why I am launching Churchsites: Beautiful and Powerful Websites for Churches. It’s a way for churches to get a beautiful (and unique) looking website at a price that is affordable – even for smaller churches. I’ve been able to use my experience working with churches to make sure it does all the things that churches specifically need – like sharing sermons + events, news items and showing service times.

I’m really excited to see how it goes – and even more excited for the opportunities it will create for churches with small budgets to communicate to their members, and their communities.

Jordesign

Jordesign will still be continuing to take on work from Churches, Ministries and Startups that want custom designed and developed websites. We’ve worked with some great people + organisations over the past 5 years – and are excited about who we may work with in the future.

Corner Table

I’ll be continuing to run Corner Table – a coworking space I started in Wollongong, on the NSW South Coast. It’s been really great to see the space go from an idea in my head to something that lives and breathes. There’s a great core group of people working from the space – and I look forward to growing it over the next year.

Writing and Speaking

I’m hoping to do a lot more writing this year – not only on this site, but more widely as well. That’s started already with an article I wrote for Eternity Mag, and an interview I did with ChurchWP.

I’m also hoping to do some speaking – looking forward to the upcoming WordCamp Sydney and (hopefully) WordCamp Brisbane.

Bring it on!

It looks like being an exciting 12 months, and  I can’t wait.
