I’m loving the current ‘Golden Age of Television’. There’s something I really like about the amount of time 8-20 episodes of a series allows for story arcs, and slow storytelling.
In the last couple of years – we’ve stopped watching as much ‘interesting’ TV (as I’d call it) as I’ve been doing more work in the evenings and haven’t been able to concentrate on series that require you be fully engaged. So we’ve missed a whole bunch of things to catch up on (Stranger Things – I’m looking at you).
Barry is our first foray back into the realm of ‘premium’ TV in a little while. I’ve been excited to watch it, as I’ve long been a fan of Bill Hader and appreciating his acting range post-SNL.
We’re only 3 episodes in – but absolutely loving it. Hader is so understated, and the humour in the show seems to come from around him rather than because of him. It is dark, and poignant, and hilarious. And utterly enjoyable. Can’t wait to finish the rest of the season.
